Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing) and Ethical Space: Ways to Disrupt Health Researchers’ Colonial Attraction to a Singular Biomedical Worldview

Indigenous research on Turtle Island has existed for millennia, where knowledge(s) to work with the land and its inhabitants are available next generations. These knowledge systems exist today but rarely viewed as valid biomedical ‘facts’ so silenced. When is solicited within health research, system predominantly an ‘add-on’ or assimilated into Western understandings. We discuss disrupting this colonial state nurse researchers. Two concepts rooted in teachings knowledges, Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing) Ethical Space, shed light ways disrupt researchers’ attraction a singular worldview which continue privilege perspectives. Knowledge diverse required challenge relations practice. A synergy between Space can support working both enhance reconciliation.
